3x4 Aspect Ratio | Fine Art Papers

For the best print quality, please upload your photo as a full-resolution, 16-bit TIFF file in the ProPhoto RGB color space (ZIP compression is lossless and saves bandwidth). The Photography Life Print Lab offers high-end, fine art prints made with papers from esteemed suppliers Canson and Hahnemühle, both of which have been creating papers since the 1500s. The selection of print sizes is more limited on these fine art papers compared to our Epson prints. We make all of our prints using a calibrated 12-ink, pigment-based printer to bring you the utmost in color gamut and archivability. 

Canson Baryta Prestige II is our recommendation for a semi-gloss paper. It has the deepest blacks and greatest tonal range of all of our fine art papers. The paper features a mild texture and a fibrous base, reminiscent of classic darkroom papers. There is a gentle, subtle warmth to this paper. Furthermore, it does not have optical brighteners, ensuring that your print will not yellow even after hundreds of years. 

Canson Arches 88 is an extraordinary matte paper. It has some of the brightest whites of any matte paper, yet it does not contain optical brighteners. It is capable of reproducing tones that are unattainable on any other matte paper we've seen. The minimal texture and neutral base are suitable for nearly any photo, from soft portraits to vivid landscapes. 

Hahnemühle German Etching is for photographers who want a matte paper with texture and character. It does not reach the same brightness as Canson Arches 88, but the texture is luxurious, and the paper has a very gentle warmth. We recommend using it for any photo with a softer touch that could benefit from a high-end, artistic feel. Note that according to Hahnemühle, this paper contains "very low" levels of optical brighteners, but not zero. We are including the next paper in the list, Hahnemühle William Turner, as an OBA-free alternative with even more texture for those who want another matte option. 

Hahnemühle William Turner 310: The texture on this matte paper is very high, even more so than Hahnemühle German Etching, making it a truly specialty paper. But for photos where you want a high-texture look, nothing we've seen matches the quality of this paper. It has a subtle warmth and is free from optical brighteners. Notably, we did not find that a photo's detail suffered despite the high texture. Although these prints do have a softer feel, if your photo has pixel-level details, they will make it into the print.

Notes:

1. You must select a 3x4 crop upon uploading your photo. If you want a different aspect ratio for your print, please choose one of our other print options.
2. Any border you choose will be a white extension added around the edges of the photo. Nothing is superimposed over any part of the photo. 
3. Borderless prints may have 1-2mm cut off each side of the image. This is done in order to avoid any thin white lines appearing along the edges of the print.
